You walked on down from the east side
gave away the last of your change
spent an hour in the line
outside the tenement museum
you can't remember why you came
and now it's thirty-six years later
nobody's having any fun
forgot you had to work a double
downtown at the local record shop
Life's getting just a little bit too expensive
I can barely afford to stay in the game
Will I miss my life once it has ended?
Will I miss my bodies aches and pains?
I saw you freeze up on the sidewalk
outside the bar on memory lane
you can't recall what you forgot there
you can't remember why you came
I hear the whispers of nostalgia
I cannot help but share the pain
and we still listen through the ages
somehow the angst remains the same
And I'm not surprised that we're still not happy
I'm not surprised it still feels the same
How long can we chase after the movies
Until we see it's all in vain?
I've enjoyed The Wake since the 90s. The new album feels like a trip to right where they left off! Goth Rock at it's best! I can't wait to see where they go from here!! aklosowski22
